HISTORY - A FAMILY IN SERVICE TO THE CHURCH FOR MORE THAN 80 YEARS

From its beginnings on Cherry Street in Downtown Toledo over 87 years ago, to its current location on Secor Road in West Toledo, three generations of Regers have carried on the original family's tradition of service to the faithful.

In 1921, John Reger founded The John A. Reger Company when he opened Reger's Church Supplies on Cherry Street in Downtown Toledo. After 1945, Joseph Reger assumed ownership of Reger's Church Supplies, and was joined by his brothers upon their return from serving their nation in World War II.

Third Generation Reger FamilyWith the dedication of the Reger brothers, a second store was established in 1950, at 712 Madison Avenue, also in Downtown Toledo. In addition to the opening of the second store, the new decade saw the origins of what is now a company tradition, the annual Reger Catalog. In 1967, the Cherry Street store was relocated to what became a familiar downtown landmark, Reger's Church Supplies on Erie Street. The Madison Avenue store closed its doors in the early 1980's, as the company centralized its services on Erie Street.

While Reger's served the faithful of Toledo from its Erie Street location and the Church of Northwest Ohio from its Catalog, the end of the 1990s brought forth a new chapter in our history. In November 1997, Reger's Church Supplies opened its doors at its present location, 4100 Secor Road, one block north of Sylvania Avenue in the heart of West Toledo. The new location provided much needed space, including a large retail and showroom space, an office area, and a shipping department. The Reger Catalog now provides service to thousands of religious and institutions, and the Secor Road location allows Toledoans, Northwest Ohioans, Southeast Michiganders, and many visitors to see first hand the newest products and finest gifts available from hundreds of manufacturers of church goods and religious articles.
